There is not much to say about Dorchester County election procedures as we have little data on these canvasses, and what data we do have is from the 2010 primary. But the county seems to have ignored some State Election Commission procedures. read more »

Berkeley County 2010 General Election

We finally received most of the data requested from Berkeley County, which is on the northwest border of Charleston County. We do not have the manual adjustment log nor do we have all of the audit data from the virtual precincts. The only complete virtual precinct is “failsafe”. There is no data from the “emergency”, “provisional” and “failsafe/provisional” virtual precincts. The data from the absentee precincts is also incomplete. read more »

Verify Your Vote

This article on voting problems in Charleston and Colleton Counties appeared in the Moultrie News in late January, 2011.

“Frank Heindel of Mt. Pleasant is leading a small group of concerned citizens who are trying to audit the returns from the 2010 primary and general elections in South Carolina. Using computer technology, they are parsing the data from the audit files produced by the state’s ES&S voting system to evaluate how accurately the votes are counted and how well the voting terminals perform. He has put together a team that includes two professors of computer science from USC and Clemson and a programmer from Cambridge, MA. Mr. Heindel himself has spent about $500 on Freedom of Information Act requests to acquire audit records for the voting system from several SC counties, including Charleston and Colleton Counties. While none of the audits are complete, the preliminary results are not encouraging. read more »

Uncounted Votes in Richland County

The State newspaper here and the Columbia Free Times here both have reports about over 1000 missing electronic ballots in Richland County found by Frank Heindel, Chip Moore, Duncan Buell and Eleanor Hare in their audit of the November, 2010 election.
